    Cody Riley

    Cody Riley is an attorney of The Harris Law Firm in Colorado, where he was born and raised. He is proud to be a part of a law firm in his home state that shares his passion for helping people through difficult times by offering legal counsel that is approachable and empathetic.

    All his life, Cody has had an analytical mind that drew him to anything heavy with details. For this reason, he pursued a certificate in intellectual property from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, as well as a Copyright Law Certificate, Trademark Law Certificate, and Patent Law Certificate from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. In addition to being admitted to practice by the Colorado Bar and the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, Attorney Riley can practice in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as a Trademark and Patent Attorney. He once took Second Place in the National Patent Drafting Competition hosted by the USPTO, and he completed an externship with the USPTO in Denver.

    Cody began his higher education by studying biology for his undergraduate degree at Colorado State University. Before and during law school at the University of Denver Strum College of Law, where he finished his J.D., he worked as an account manager for a pharmaceutical and medical device company. Working in that role gave him invaluable communication skills that translated directly to his ability to efficiently and effectively communicate with colleagues, clients, and opposing counsel and court staff while working on a case.

    Today, at The Harris Law Firm, Attorney Riley focuses his practice exclusively on Business and Intellectual Property Law. Drawing on his strong analytical background, he works through the many details that can arise in complex business matters, from contract review to intellectual property disputes. Known for his attention to detail, Riley helps clients navigate legal challenges while protecting their business interests and long-term goals. He particularly enjoys working with clients to explore strategic and efficient solutions, including alternative dispute resolution options like mediation when appropriate. Riley prides himself on getting to know his clients and their businesses on a deeper level, allowing him to provide thoughtful, tailored guidance. He can be described as “very hands-on” with his cases, ensuring clients always understand where their matter stands and what the next steps may be.

    When not working on a case, Cody likes to stay active. Some of his favorite activities are hiking, skiing, paddleboarding, mountain biking, and camping. Cody is also a talented fisherman who knows how to flyfish, icefish, and deep-sea fish. For more relaxing times, he enjoys his lifelong passion for reading.
