Joe Soloway

Joe Soloway is a Family and Criminal Law attorney at The Harris Law Firm in Colorado, dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate challenging legal matters with clarity, compassion, and practical, results-focused solutions.

Joe’s interest in the law began early, inspired by watching reruns of Matlock and Perry Mason with his mother and becoming fascinated by how attorneys protect and advocate for their clients. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver and his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, graduating in the top three of his class with public good distinction. He won the DU Advocate’s Cup mock trial competition and went on to become a national mock trial finalist, achievements that demonstrated his early talent for advocacy and courtroom work.

What began as academic excellence translated into real-world effectiveness when Joe entered practice. As a criminal defense attorney, he spent years in public service honing the litigation skills he now brings to family law. He developed a commanding understanding of courtroom procedure, a nuanced grasp of the rules of evidence, and the ability to prosecute or defend a wide range of actions. He is wholly comfortable litigating protection orders, emergency motions, and motions to restrict parenting time, and he has earned a reputation for stepping in quickly and effectively when urgent matters arise. Joe is articulate, strategic, and unflappable in high-pressure situations, capable of being forceful when necessary while recognizing when a more deliberate, measured approach will serve his clients best.

Joe takes a client-first approach. He prioritizes understanding the outcome his clients want and uses his trial experience, negotiation skills, and practical judgment to help them reach it. His work follows a simple philosophy. His cases are about the client’s goals, and every step should move them closer to achieving those goals.

This commitment led him to The Harris Law Firm, where his experience, courtroom presence, and dedication to supporting people through difficult moments align with the firm’s mission. He is well-liked and well-connected within the legal community, with a professional network built through years of collaboration, advocacy, and respected performance.

Outside the office, Joe enjoys creative pursuits, including role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons and practicing his improv comedy.

Exceptional advocate in a complex, high-conflict case
“I highly recommend Barbara Johnson-Stern. My case was extremely challenging, and she proved to be an outstanding advocate from start to finish. She was able to confidently take on a “bulldog” opposing attorney while remaining professional, strategic, and exceptionally well-prepared. She knows the law, stands her ground, and presents with credibility and confidence in court. Throughout the entire process she was responsive, accessible, and fully engaged in the case. I have worked with many professionals over the years, and her level of preparation, integrity, and effectiveness truly stood out. If you are facing a difficult legal situation and want someone who will advocate for you with skill, professionalism, and results, you will be in excellent hands.”
